Vancouver Monastic Center - Education
| Although trained in the Shangpa Kagyu and
Karma Kagyu lineages in retreat under the Venerable Kalu Rinpoche, Lama
Tsewang takes an ecumenical approach to education and training in the
Dharma. Due to various causes and conditions, and with the kind
permission of Khenpo Tsewang Gyatso, the academic program at the temple will be based
on the Nyingma shedra (monastic college) curriculum. Studies will be
undertaken primarily in a correspondence format, including group discussion
and exams. At the completion of the seven year training program,
successful candidates may be awarded the Lhopon (Acarya) degree and may
later be eligible for the title of Khenpo.
